Thailand government took the steps to stop  spreading disease.Thailand’s prime minister says his government has agreed to declare a state of emergency to implement stricter measures to control the coronavirus outbreak.

Tourism is a huge part of the Thai economy. Before the virus struck, travel and tourism accounted for more than 20 percent of the country. The country’s tourism sector was considered so robust that the country got the nickname “Teflon Thailand”. Yet of those 39 million tourists last year, more than 10 million were Chinese.

So when the Chinese government quarantined the city of Wuhan on 23 January, and stopped all overseas tours, the impact was felt immediately in Thailand. Shopping malls and temples in Bangkok were suddenly much quieter and less crowded. As more flights from China were cancelled, the airports emptied. You could whisk yourself through passport control in no time.

The Airlines cancelled all flights and offering waiver to the customer to change their travels dates . Earlier this month, Thailand cancelled visas on arrival for 18 countries including China to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. Visa exemptions were cancelled for South Korea, Italy and Hong Kong. Also suspend visa on arrival

Thailand will close its land borders to curb the spread of the virus. Among the border checkpoints ordered closed were the crossings between Thailand and Malaysia, Thailand and Laos in Nakhon Phanom, and the crossings between Thailand and Cambodia in Sa Kaeo Province.

The government has declared a state of emergency which will give extra authority to officials. The government also approved a US$3.25 billion stimulus package.

State officials must suspend or postpone overseas official trips to destinations where the virus is spreading and those being monitored by the Public Health Ministry. If they cannot cancel the trips, they need permission from their superiors or related agencies to go.

State employees who have returned to Thailand from countries at risk or have transited through these countries or suspected to have contracted the virus can work at home for 14 days to observe their condition; the work at home will not be regarded as taking leave.

Thailand Government shutdown order till April 12. The order will see the closure of restaurants, department stores, markets, schools, barbers, sports stadiums, golf courses, and massage parlours, among others. Exceptions include takeaway restaurants, supermarkets, drug stores, and food markets.
