Thai Airways International launches a Special Flight for Worshipers

The national flag carrier Thai Airways International (THAI) has launched a special flight for passengers who wish to chant Buddhist mantras over 99 holy places across the country. With flight duration of 3 hours, the special flight will take off on November 30, 2020.

Mr. Wiwat Piyawiroj, executive vice president for THAI’s commercial operations, has informed that the special flight is part of a plan to strengthen the tourism industry and the plan is consistent with policy issued by the government.

He revealed that the new travel experience with the special flight is part of the airline’s “Magical Flying Experience” campaign.

When chanting Buddhist mantras, passengers will fly over the capital and 99 holy places in 31 provinces, including Ayutthaya, Chaiyaphum, Chon Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phitsanulok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Rayong, Sukhothai, Suphan Buri and Surat Thani

On November 30, 2020, the special flight is scheduled to depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport at an estimated time of 01:30 pm and will arrive at the same airport at an estimated time of 04:30 pm. The flight will not land anywhere during the entire journey and passengers will experience positive energy when chanting on board.

Individuals who are interested in booking an air ticket can expect to pay around THB 6,000 for economy class and around THB 10,000 for business class. The last date for making seat reservation is November 25, 2020.

In related to the new launch, Mr. Srisuwan Janya, Association for the Protection of the Thai Constitution, has said that he will lead the Thai workers’ union members to file a complaint against the company’s rehabilitation plan at the government building.

He said the workers wanted to expose the irregularities in the rehabilitation plan to the Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. As of the end of June, Thai Airways owed THB 332.2 billion. On September 14, the Central Bankruptcy Court approved its recovery plan.
