Philippines Holiday Demand

The results of China Philippines Travel Sentiment Survey, conducted earlier in first week of May by hospitality consulting group C9 Hotelworks and Delivering Asia Communications are very encouraging for the Philippines Tourism.

Post Covid-19 crisis resumption of international travel is a key economic issue for the Philippines where tourism accounts for 12.7% of its GDP. While domestic holidays are likely to be a short-term cash flow strategy for hotel and tourism establishments in the coming months, the reopening of the overseas market is critical to stabilize the tourism sector.

The survey highlights that the first wave of international travellers from China will be attracted to Philippine beach destinations, topped by Boracay, Bohol and Cebu. The survey trends showed that over 80% of the tourists will be independent travellers whereas 30% will prefer a five day holiday.

Last year data shows South Korea and China accounted for nearly half of all international visitors to the country.
