The low cost airline Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has made an announcement on Monday that it will resume its international flight operations between Singapore and Taiwan starting from July 5.

The carrier has informed that it will operate a weekly flight every Sunday on Singapore-Taiwan-Singapore route, using Boeing B787-9 aircraft. As per schedule, the flight will depart from Changi Airport at 09:00 am and depart for the return flight from Taoyuan International Airport at 03:05 pm on the same day.

However, all passengers and crew members will be subject to undergo the strict COVID-19 prevention measures to ensure the health and safety of all individuals. All passengers will be required to wear face masks and gloves at all times, have to get their temperature checked before boarding and follow seating & social distancing guidelines.

To ensure frequent disinfection onboard the plane, the airline will provide a kit containing sanitizer, medical masks and antibacterial wipes. It has been also advised passengers to check-in online and submit their health certificates in advance. Additionally, passengers will be allowed to carry only one small cabin baggage with weight up to 3 kg into the aircraft.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the carrier was operating flights to more than 60 destinations and is currently operating on a reduced schedule, with limited flights to Hong Kong and Perth from April and May respectively.

Singapore had earlier temporarily suspended its all domestic and international passenger flight operations with border closure for more than three months, in a bid to limit the spread of COVID-19 transmission in the country.

In regards to COVID-19 transmission in Singapore, the COVID-19 cases are still rising and the country has reported a total number of 42,432 confirmed cases which are under treatment and 26 patients have lost their lives due to virus. However, 35,995 patients who tested positive to COVID-19 have completely recovered from the virus, as of Wednesday (June 25).
