Malaysia Airlines offers Discounted Air Fares under MADF 2020 for Domestic Travel

The national flag carrier Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) has launched an online promotion titled “Malaysia Airlines Domestic Fair (MADF) 2020”. The promotion is only for 8 days starting from Wednesday (Sept 23) until the end of the month.

Under this promotion, passengers travelling to domestic locations in Malaysia will get 20 per cent discounted air fares on economy class. Tickets can be booked directly via the airline’s official website www.malaysiaairlines.com or Malaysia Airlines’ Mobile App. In addition, passengers booking tickets through the mobile app will enjoy an additional 5 per cent discount.

Passengers can book their air tickets at these discounted fares for domestic travel during 9 months until June 30, 2021.

Furthermore, all passengers of Malaysia Airlines can enjoy the privileges and services of the premier full-service carrier, including 7 kg carry-on baggage allowance, free meals/snacks and beverages, and use in-flight entertainment system and enjoy Enrich Miles to get further benefits.

The carrier has said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 22) that the airline is launching MADF 2020 in order to boost the air travel demand in the last three months of this year and the first six months of next year, with an aim of reviving the tourism which have been shattered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms Lau Yin May, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at Malaysia Airlines Berhad group, said during a press release, “We will continue to offer premium service with unparalleled flexibility to ensure convenience and comfort in mind while travelling, without compromising the safety and health priorities of our passengers.”

She further added that the company is committed to promoting local destinations throughout the year, in line with its “Fly Malaysia” campaign, to accelerate the revival of the domestic tourism industry.

Malaysia’s tourism industry has also been hit hard due to the impact of the ongoing pandemic, which interrupted global travel. The Visit Malaysia 2020 tourism campaign had to be cancelled.  According to According to Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Nancy Shukri, Malaysia’s tourism industry had lost approx RM 45 billion in tourism expenditures in the first half of 2020.

She added that so far this year, only 4.2 million international tourist arrivals, a fall of 68.3 per cent and RM 12.6 billion of tourism revenue have also fallen by 70 per cent as compared to the same period in the last year.
