With Government of Thailand easing COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and allowing travel across the country, Thai nationals have started visiting temples again. Although all visitors  were seen complying the key health safety and prevention measures against spread of COVID-19 such as wearing masks, maintaining a social distance, getting hand sanitized and temperature checks before entering into the temple’s complex.

Many tourists visited Wat Chaiwatthanaram located in the ancient capital Ayutthaya on Monday (June 1). It was very pleasant and beautiful view while Thais wearing traditional outfits and donning masks thronged the famous Buddhist temple. The Chaiwatthanaram Temple reopened on May 22, but an increase in visitors can only be seen lately as now people are feeling more comfortable in going outside from their home.

Inspired by the historical television soap opera “Love Destiny”, the Thai nationals have been loving taking their selfies at the temple wearing traditional pants and silk sarongs from few past years.

As of Wednesday (June 3), Thailand has seen 3,084 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 2,968 recoveries and 58 deaths, but the country has not reported any local transmission in the past week, therefore it helped to speed up in easing restrictions.

It is also informed that closure of around 40,000 country’s temples was not directly ordered by Thai authorities but many of them chose to close as a prevention measure to stop spread of the pandemic.
