Royal Brunei Airlines resumed Direct Flights between Brunei & China

Royal Brunei Airlines, the national carrier of Brunei Darussalam, has resumed the operations of direct flights between Brunei Darussalam to mainland China on Tuesday (August 4) after approval from the authorities in the both countries.

According to the Chinese embassy in Brunei and travel agencies, the Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) will operate a weekly round-trip direct flight every Tuesday from August 4 to October 20 on route between Bandar Seri Begawan and Hangzhou, using an Airbus 320 or a Boeing 787 aircraft.

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Brunei had been flying regularly to China including Shanghai, Haikou, Nanning, Changsha, Hangzhou and Hong Kong. But now, the Sultanate only flies to and from Hong Kong every Tuesday and Thursday.

All passengers arriving at Brunei and Hangzhou will be required to stay in quarantine centers designated by the governments for 14 days as per the policy of respective country.

According to the Ministry of Health in Brunei, 489 people have arrived at the government’s quarantine center after traveling abroad and are currently undergoing a compulsory isolation for 14 days.

In regards to COVID-19 transmission, the COVID-19 cases are still rising in both countries and Brunei has reported a total number of 142 confirmed cases which are under treatment and 3 patients have lost their lives due to virus. However, 138 patients who tested positive to COVID-19 have completely recovered from the virus, till date.

Whereas, China has reported a total number of 84,712 confirmed cases, 4,634 deaths and 79,284 complete recoveries, as of Tuesday (August 11).
