Cambodia has ordered foreigners to pay for COVID-19 test, quarantine and treatment services. “This was implemented as per the request of Ministry of Health” Economy and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth said in a letter to media on Tuesday (8 Jun).

Under the Kingdom’s health measures, all international and Cambodian travellers arriving into Cambodia will be directly transferred from airports to the designated waiting centers for conducting COVID-19 tests. The travellers will be charged $ 100 for the COVID-19 test and they will have to wait at the centers till the test results are known. Traveller will also be required to pay $ 60 per day for staying at the waiting center or hotel and will include three meals a day.

The letter also stated that if anyone of the passengers is tested positive for the COVID-19, the rest of the passengers in the same group will necessarily be quarantined for 14 days. They will have to pay $ 100 towards test and 84 dollars a day for hotel or quarantine facility, meals, laundry, sanitary services, doctors and security service.

The COVID-19 positive patients in addition will pay $ 225 per day towards hospital room and medical treatment. In the unfortunate event of death of the COVID-19 positive patient, cremation service charge of $ 1500 will also be required.

The Southeast Asian country has so far confirmed a total of 126 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 124 patients cured and two remained hospitalized, according to a Ministry of Health statement.
