Maldives will restart tourism and reopen its borders for International Tourists from July 3rd, 2020, as confirmed by Tourism Ministry. Upon entry, no additional fees will be charged by the travelers, Tourism Ministry further stated.

The tourism industry in Maldives came to a halt with the travel ban imposed by the government for all tourists from 27th March 2020 as a precautionary measure to curb the spreading of COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Tourism Ministry had earlier drafted guidelines to open the borders and commence Safe Tourism. The guidelines and standard operation procedures (SOPs) are being revised further after discussions with the industry stake holders for the third time and will be finalized very soon, the Ministry reported.

It happened around the globe, and in Maldives it’s no different. Pandemic has changed what the tourism will look like in Maldives after it opens its shores to the world.
