Air Travel, Domestic Tourism to Re-Open in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

The Sabah government has allowed Domestic Tourism and Air Transport to re-open with some restrictions from today under the fifth phase of conditional movement control order (CMCO). “Recreational activities, sports and inter-district travel are also allowed under the new ruling”, said the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie.
Hotel accommodation, adventures, hot spots, food and beverage, ticketing service, transportation and other related activities would also be allowed with the opening of domestic tourism.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie added “However, the gymnasium, spa lounge, swimming pools, meeting rooms, seminar halls, training rooms and buffet facilities at hotels will remain closed.”

In addition, recreational and environmental research activities as well as services offered by Sabah parks and sanctuaries, issuance of permits for harvesting bird’s nests and licence for wildlife can now resume operations.
Other Professional services, premises selling motorised vehicles, heavy machinery and bicycles can also resume operations.

“All these sectors must comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities,” he said, adding those who need to travel inter-districts must adhere to the social distancing guidelines and SOP.
