On Wednesday, The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has granted permission to its three major airlines i.e. Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and VietJet Air to resume their domestic passenger flights between key routes including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the central city of Danang. Moreover, the CAAV also allowed these airlines to increase operational frequencies on these routes from Thursday, April 16.

Previously, The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam had announced that domestic passenger flights would remain suspended to fully follow the lock down and social distancing measures instructed by the government.

After the CAAV’s announcement, airlines have decided to increase operation of flights as below:

Vietnam Airlines (VN), the national flag carrier, would fly between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with two return flights per day, doubling that of the first half of this month. Meanwhile, one return flight per day on the routes connecting Danang with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City remains in place.

Jetstar Pacific Airlines (BL), a joint venture between the state carrier and Australia’s Qantas Airways Ltd, also increased the operational frequency of flight on the route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to one return flight per day. Generally, four flights were operating on this route in a week.

VietJet Air (VJ), budget carrier, increased frequency of flights to two return flights per day between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and one return flight among Danang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific said that they will maintain the cleaning of equipment right after each flight operation and they will implement disinfection seriously.
