Singapore issued US$33 billion stimulus package

  • Singapore issued an S$48 billion (US$33 billion) stimulus package to tide its economy through the outbreak.
  • The country reported 73 new cases (Covid-19) with several new clusters located. This brings the total number of infections to 631.
  • National carrier Singapore Airlines will ground 96 percent of its capacity that had been scheduled up until April of this year.
  • Singapore will block entry or transit for visitors with travel history to Italy, France, Spain and Germany within the last 14 days.
  • Singapore will cease port calls for all cruise vessels, effective immediately, according to the country’s Maritime and Port Authority.
  • Singaporeans have been advised by the country’s health ministry to defer all non-essential travel to Italy, France, Spain and Germany.
  • National carrier Singapore Airlines and SilkAir have cancelled a number flights to and from several cities in India until April 26.
