Penang International Travel Exchange

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on the international travel, the 3rd edition of the Penang International Travel Exchange 2020 (PITE 2020) will be held virtually from October 14 to 16 this year.

Mr. Yeoh Soon Hin, Chairman of Penang State Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee has informed on Friday (Aug 21) that the virtual event will be initiated by the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) and will organize by ACE Conference and Exhibitions.

The PITE 2020 virtual event aims to integrate key components such as business matching between buyers and sellers and to create a broad market for the badly affected tourism industry. The virtual events will include virtual networks and educational conferences as well.

He stated in a press release, “Through the PITE 2020, we will be able to showcase not only Penang and our tourism and business events products virtually, but also demonstrate the infrastructure and facilities Penang has to put on a world-class virtual trade show.”

At the same time, PCEB CEO Ashwin Gunasekaran, who also attended the press conference, said that the PITE 2020 will be Malaysia’s first digital business event trade exhibition.

Their goal is to have approx 100 exhibitors to participate in the event and at least 200 buyers worldwide. It will be an achievable goal because the virtual technology has provided greater opportunities for agents in the United States and Europe, at this time.

The PITE Digital Show 2020 is fully funded by the Government of Penang and is now open for registration by interested buyers and sellers without paying any registration fees. More information can be found on the official website www.pite.my.
