After being temporarily suspended for nearly 3 months to limit the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced on Thursday (June 11) that all Thai trains are now allowed to resume services on all routes.

The resumption of train services is a part of the third phase of easing restrictions in the country.

The State Railway of Thailand said in press release on Thursday that it expects passengers to flock train stations, mostly for the inter provincial train services as the weekend approaches.

Railway officials have implemented health screening rules and contact tracing tools in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines both on the trains and at the stations. Moreover, all passengers are required to check-in and check-out while using the train services and have to follow social distancing measures as precautionary steps.

On Thursday (June 11), the Ministry of Public Health also said it is still waiting to lift the night curfew but maintaining the State of Emergency, subject to approval from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and all ministers. The government is likely to allow most businesses to resume, except entertainment venues and wet massage parlours.

In regards to COVID-19 cases, the country has reported 3,129 confirmed cases which are under treatment, 58 deaths caused by the virus and 2,987 patients tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered completely, as of Friday (June 12).
